Diamond grading reports assure you of the quality and authenticity of your diamond. As most consumers are not experts, a certificate is an objective comparison. It is important for all consumers to be aware that a lot of diamond grading is and only ever will be an opinion, be it someone with 20 years experience or the average of three people's opinions. As happens plenty of times over, a diamond can be submitted back to a lab where previously it has received an E - VS2, and return this time with an F SI1. Some insurance may require a grading report if you are planning to insure the diamond. But most will only need a valuation.
